Three Chord Bourbon Strange Collaboration Review

Whats your top three finished bourbons?

Three Chord Bourbon has collaborated with Strange Family Vineyards to create a stunning finished bourbon that could compete with those top three.

Three Chord Bourbon was kind enough to send us a bottle and we hope you enjoy Jim and Big Chief’s review of it.  Cheers!

Tasting Notes: Three Chord Bourbon Strange Collaboration

Vital Stats: Strange Collaboration is a blend of Kentucky Straight bourbon (aged between 2-6 yrs.), selected for low fusel oil content and light body, finished for 3 months in Strange Family French Oak pinot noir casks, and bottled at 99 proof.  The mashbill contains 74% corn, 21% rye, 5% malted barley and has a MSRP of $49.99.

Appearance: Copper Red in Three Cord’s Standard bottle.

Nose: Overwhelming with berries, cherries and sweet pipe tobacco. There are hints of oak, caramel and vanilla. The bold dry red wine shines through.

Palate: Rich and with just a little sweetness and cherries, The bold red wine with clove gives it a nice spice. A little bitterness. Super silky with some leather and pepper.

Finish: Medium to long with an nice Kentucky hug.

Overall: This is a thinking person’s bourbon that is great to just sit back and sip. It a buy at this price for both of us and could be a great gateway bourbon. Cheers
