Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of thebourbonroad.com and any account or membership you create with us. By using the site or signing up for an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who we are
The Bourbon Road is a podcast and website operated by The Bourbon Road LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company. References to "we", "us", and "The Bourbon Road" mean The Bourbon Road LLC. References to "you" mean the person using the site or holding an account.
Eligibility
You must be at least 21 years of age to create an account or become a paid supporter, since this is a site about distilled spirits. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you're legally permitted to receive content about alcohol where you live.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity that happens under your account.
- You can recover access only through the email address you registered. If you lose access to that email, we cannot restore your account — you'll need to start a new one.
- Don't impersonate other people or pick a display name designed to deceive others.
- One person, one account. Don't create accounts on behalf of bots or automated systems.
Acceptable use
When using the site or interacting in any community feature, please don't:
- Post spam, scams, advertising, or links to malicious content.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other members or our hosts.
- Post content that's illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit.
- Attempt to bypass our security measures, scrape the site at high volume, or interfere with normal operation.
- Use the site to violate any law, including laws about the sale or shipment of alcohol.
We can suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, with or without prior notice.
Paid supporter memberships
Paid supporter memberships are recurring monthly subscriptions billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method on a monthly basis at the price of the tier you selected. Specific terms:
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account page (which opens the Stripe Customer Portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your benefits through that date and aren't charged again.
- Refunds. Membership fees are generally non-refundable, but if you have a billing issue or believe you were charged in error, email us within 30 days and we'll work with you. We're a small team and we want supporters to feel good about their subscription.
- Tier changes. You can upgrade or downgrade your tier at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period.
- T-shirts. Supporters at the $10 (Co-pilot) and $20 (Driver) tiers receive one branded t-shirt per lifetime, sent automatically once you've been continuously subscribed for 30 days. We don't ship replacement shirts on subsequent renewals or after re-subscribing.
- Pricing. We may change tier prices in the future. We'll notify existing subscribers at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect on their subscription.
Membership perks
Supporter benefits — site features, member-only content, event access, t-shirts — are provided as a thank-you for supporting the show. We may add, change, or discontinue specific perks over time at our discretion. Where we make a material change to a paid benefit you currently receive, we'll give reasonable notice.
Member-only content (private RSS feeds, member articles, etc.) is for your personal use. Don't redistribute private feed URLs or share gated content publicly.
Events
Some supporter perks include access to in-person events. Event access is verified through your member card on the site. Event details, locations, capacities, and tier-level access rules are set per event and may change. Attending an event is at your own risk — please drink responsibly.
Content and intellectual property
The podcast audio, episode artwork, written posts, tasting notes, photos, logos, and other content on the site are owned by The Bourbon Road LLC or used with permission. You may listen, read, share links, and quote excerpts for personal and editorial use. Don't republish full episodes or articles, host the audio elsewhere, or use our name and logo to suggest endorsement of a product or business without our written permission.
If you submit content to the site (a comment, a question, your display name), you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it on the site and in related promotional materials.
Third-party services
The site uses third-party services (AWS, Stripe, Cloudflare, Printful, etc.) to operate. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms.
Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Tasting notes, scores, and reviews represent the personal opinions of our hosts and are not professional advice on what you should buy or drink.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Bourbon Road LLC and its principals are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising out of your use of the site or membership. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Termination
You may cancel your membership and delete your account at any time from your account page. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms or if continuing to provide the service to you would expose us or other members to legal or operational risk. On termination, your right to access supporter benefits ends, and your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kentucky, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes that affect your rights or obligations, we'll notify account holders by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the site or membership after a change means you accept the updated terms.
