Calumet Farm 16-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
106 proof 16 years Bourbon Western Spirits Beverage Company (Bowling Green, KY) $150 74% corn, 18% rye, 8% malted barley

Dusty oak with notes of cinnamon butter, honey butter, salted peanuts, and a hint of Dr. Pepper spice. Very much old oak, not new oak character.

Heavy oak-forward with black licorice hard candy, baker's chocolate, cocoa powder, and apparel notes. Notably absent of sweetness—completely dry from beginning to end. Oily mouthfeel for 106 proof. Minimal spice, tannic on the back end.

Medium length with a dry, mouth-puckering quality. A slight Kentucky hug but lacking spice. Christmas fruitcake emerges as the whiskey opens up, but without accompanying sweetness. Finish sucks moisture from the palate.

Overall Score
2.8 / 5
An over-oaked 16-year-old that has lost its sweetness and balance, leaving a dry, tannic finish better suited for cigar pairings than sipping alone.
