Green River Bourbon (Barrel Sample)
117 proof
3 years 8 months
Bourbon
Green River Distillery
70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley
Nose
Youthful with grassy and hay notes, earthy undertones, a little musty like an antique shop or old toolbox, some burnt caramel, malted barley-driven sugars coming through.
Palate
Caramel-forward but dry rather than sweet, green apple bite, kettle corn and nuttiness (pecan swirl pastry notes), spicy with good body and viscous texture, bitter notes on the first sip that subdue on subsequent tastes, growing sweetness on the second sip.
Finish
Medium finish with Kentucky rye spice, heat appropriate for the proof level, lingering sweetness.
Noteworthy
A promising young bourbon with a complex, spicy palate that belies its youth and shows strong potential for future maturation.
