Stagg Jr. Batch 13 @ 00:29:11
128.4 proof 8 years Bourbon George T. Stagg (Buffalo Trace) 75% corn, 16% rye, 9% malted barley

Deep and rich aroma without excessive alcohol burn on the nose. Complex with spice and oak undertones.

Atomic fireball cinnamon and hot candy heat that awakens the mouth. Cherry notes with considerable oak influence. The alcohol is present and evident on the palate. A creamy, buttery sweetness emerges after water is added, along with a little caramel and butterscotch.

The initial cinnamon-fireball heat persists but does not develop into additional new notes as the pour continues. Does not provide a full 'Kentucky hug' but sets the mouth on fire. Stays consistent throughout.

Overall Score
4.1 / 5
A fiery, high-proof bourbon with commanding spice and heat that delivers intensity and oak character; while it doesn't evolve much as you drink it, the buttery sweetness that emerges with water makes it a worthwhile sip for those who appreciate cask strength power.
