Dan has a Youtube channel where he explores and reviews whiskies from the past. He also likes to talk about todays great expressions and how they compare. With all the media outlets vying for your time, it’s nice to know there is someone out there with a twist on the typical whiskey tube. Dan Trout, or better known as “Dusty Dan” has alway had a love for the vintage spirits. It was a great pleasure to have him on the show to educate us (and our listeners) on the world of vintage bourbons.

During this episode we had the opportunity to try some whiskies from the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1980’s. That is a pretty wide range, but all are considered “dusties”… or bourbons that have gathered dust. You will be surprised to hear what our thoughts are on these bourbons that are in some cases older than the hosts of the show. We invite you to listen in on the episode to hear our tasting notes and banter back and forth about these fine whiskies of the past.

If you have ever though about how to acquire an older whiskey, Dan goes into detail about the methods used to uncover these bottles. He also talks about some of the pitfalls in searching out the old pearls. Mike and I have had a few misfortunes when it comes to vintage bottles…. in fact this is the first episode were we actually cracked a few really good ones!
