Have you been able to try the Jim Beam, Booker’s Bourbon Pigskin Batch yet?
Booker’s releases a few batches every year. Each varies in age and proof, and is bottled uncut and unfiltered. This is the third of the Booker’s releases for 2020 that pays homage to Booker Noe’s love for football. Booker was 6’4″ tall and 300lbs so he was definitely a big boy. At 127.3 proof this matches his stature.
The letter jacket in the photo belongs to Big Chief. It’s from his highschool days at Evant Texas. Please enjoy Big Chief’s review.
Tasting Notes: Booker’s Pigskin Batch 2020-03
Vital Stats: Mashbill of 77% Corn, 13% Rye, 10% Malted Barley with an age statement of 6 Years, 7 Months, 7 Days. The bourbon itself is dark amber in color, almost the color of maple syrup. It has an MSRP of $90.
Nose: Heavy barrel char and oak with brown sugar, almost like a sugar daddy candy working to a chocolate cover raisin. Slight hints of vanilla and oak.
Palate: Good morning Vietnam. This is an amazing whiskey that rolls onto your tongue with its sweetness. Dark roasted peanuts present themselves and it slips further on with its spice. With hints of vanilla and maple syrup it ends with a drying viscus mouth feel.
Finish: It works itself to a long finish with a nice pleasing Kentucky hug. This is most certainly a fire place sipper.
Overall: This would be a buy for both Jim and Big Chief. This would make a nice gift for a friend anytime of the year and is also great to share a pour with someone that appreciates a more robust bourbon.
