Have you experienced Barton 1792 Distillery, Thomas S. Moore port casks yet?
Barton 1792 Distillery is honoring their founder Thomas S. Moore with three different expressions of finished bourbon.
Big Chief picked up this bottle from our friends at Paradise Spirits & Wine. Follow along as Jim and Big Chief sat down for a pour and a review. Cheers!
Tasting Notes: Thomas S. Moore Port Cask Bourbon
Vital Stats: The port casks expression is 98.9 proof with no age statement, an undisclosed mashbill and a $70 MSRP.
Appearance: Deep ruby red.
Nose: Obviously the port wine is upfront and center. Dark cherries, worn leather, rich oak, raisins and truffles.
Palate: Thick and heavy, with a cooling effect almost like life savor mints. A slight cinnamon and cloves spice follows. There is an earthiness of white truffles and Turkish figs.
Finish: Medium to long with a light Kentucky hug. A very complex finished whiskey that just keeps giving.
Overall: An amazing sipper that is obviously a buy for both Jim and Big Chief. A great bourbon to introduce wine drinkers to the bourbon culture. It would pair nicely after a beautiful Italian meal with a good cigar.
