What’s your favorite New York State Whiskey?

Let us introduce you to Kings County Distillery out of Brooklyn, New York. They were kind enough to send us a bottle of their barrel strength straight bourbon whiskey.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest whiskey distillery, located in the 120 year old Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.   Kings County makes handmade moonshine, bourbon, and other whiskey’s using New York grown, organic corn and rye as their base grains.   Their malted barley is sourced from Scotland and England for all all their whiskeys.

Tasting Notes: Kings County Barrel Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Vital Stats:  Mash bill consisting of corn and malted barley, blended from 3 to 6 year old barrels. This batch is 127.4 proof. The MSRP is 200ML for $30, 375ML for $55 and 750ML for $90

Nose: Dark, rich, brown sugar. Light oak with caramel, vanilla raisins. Banana bread in a bottle.

Palate: Toasted graham crackers and chocolate. The oak rounds it out with some spice. Lucky Charms marshmallows with some grilled peaches.

Finish: Medium to long with a New York state of mind hug.

Overall: This is most certainly a buy for both of us. A beautiful sipper that could be gifted to a good friend. The bottle isn’t special, but it’s the whiskey that really matters and this certainly is delicious.
